Dear Sweet Pea:

APRIL FOOLS!!  This is what it looks like when you prank a 2 year old.

Madden, you were such a good sport.  I asked you if you wanted juice and you replied “YES!.”  Its rare that we have juice in the house
(we make fresh juice and rarely buy the store juice).  Before you got home I had made jello in a cup and added a straw. I yelled April Fools, you looked puzzled because what 2 year old even knows what Aprils Fools Day is and then you said ” Oh no, nothings coming!”  You took out the straw and then you devoured the jello! Done and done.

I think this was a 47 cent prank that made your mom and aunties laugh so hard, but it probably wont go down in the history of pranks for you.  Next year though…you better start preparing Madden. This mamma is going to bring it!

Love,

Mom

Buried treasure found: grandmother Dorothy’s recipe for “The Mold.” She usually made the orange one. I had thought the bromelain in pineapple wouldn’t allow it to set but canned pineapple is heated and will allow #jello to set.

I like jello yes I do, I like jello more than you.

Bacon Jello by canida

Ingredients:
120g fried, thin-cut bacon
1 quart (4 cups) half-and-half
17 packets (1/4 oz each) of plain gelatin
1/3 cup plus 3 Tablespoons maple syrup (grade B, the nice dark stuff)
1 cup calvados, or similarly bacon-compatible 80-proof or greater booze
red food coloring
2 teaspoons applewood liquid smoke (hickory strikes me as a bad idea)
5 cups boiling water

Tools:
bacon frying apparatus
blender
sieve, cheesecloth, or chinois
wire whisk
8.5” x 11” Pyrex baking dish (listed as holding ~3 quarts or 3 liters)
plastic wrap
aluminum foil (optional)
plastic bags
rocks, beans, rice, or other small/maneuverable dry item
tape
fire of some type (for flaming booze)
measuring cups and spoons

For step by step instructions, check out his Instructables page.

Learn how to make these Jell-o pinwheels! Another stupid easy ‘recipe’ with only 3 ingredients. Super easy, quick to make and the kids will love them! You can use any flavor of Jell-O to make these.

I got this recipe and idea from Joy of Jello here: http://www.joyofjello.com/?p=1085
